Dr. Michael Mba is an Assistant Director in the Economic Policy at the Central Bank of Nigeria, with over two decades of experience in applying statistics, economics, econometrics, data science, and information security to support the attainment of organizational and national strategic goals. He is currently the Divisional Head for the Statistical System Management Division, which drives the adoption of big data analytics, statistical data management and dissemination for the Bank, and develops sound statistical methodologies for macroeconomic statistics. Before this role, he was the Divisional Head for Real Sector & Government Finance Statistics, overseeing the production of high-quality and timely data on key economic indicators and sectors.

Dr. Mba’s mission is to contribute to the design and adoption of evidence-based and impactful public policies that foster inclusive and sustainable development. His areas of experience includes economic research, program evaluation, strategic planning, and risk management, application of quantitative and qualitative techniques, database design, and data mining. He is a certified lead implementer of ISO 27001:2013, the international standard for information security management.

He is currently the Editor of the CBN Journal of Applied Statistics and Editorial Board Member of other policy journals, Online Facilitator, and Peer Reviewer for various academic and professional institutions and publications, where he shares his knowledge and expertise in economics, macroeconomic statistics, policy design, data analytics, and information security.
